In 1958, C. Wright Mills, one of the greatest figures of the north-american sociology, wrote an outstanding article entitled "The Man in the Middle: The Designer". It was afterwards published with several other essays in the book Power, Politics and People. It's amazing how almost half a century later this text remains so vivid, clever and of great usefulness to the designer who bothers to read it.
